Vikram Malhotra

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Vikram is the Founder & CEO of Abundantia Entertainment, a company formed in 2013 with the vision of being the best and most-admired creator and enabler of content in the Indian media & entertainment ecosystem.

Formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Viacom18 Motion Pictures, one of India’s largest motion pictures studios, Vikram is the name behind some of the industry’s most-loved films in the last few years. At Viacom18, Vikram built an enviable track record for the studio - from critically acclaimed box-office hits like Kahaani, Gangs of Wasseypur, Special 26, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Queen, to mass entertainers like OMG – Oh My God, Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Tanu Weds Manu, to name a few.

Vikram, who has also previously headed the motion pictures business at Balaji Telefilms, set the bar even higher with Abundantia Entertainment after Abundantia’s first title, 'Baby', met with spectacular success in 2015. Abundantia’s next film, ‘Airlift’, released in January 2016, was a massive hit at the box-office and earned unprecedented critical and audience acclaim. Continuing the success of these two titles, Abundantia also notched up another winner with the recently released ‘Toilet - Ek Prem Katha’. 2017 also saw the releases of two urban-focused, slice-of-life films in the form of ‘Noor’ and ‘Chef’ – the remake of Jon Favreau’s Hollywood indie by the same name.

Led by Vikram, Abundantia made a strong foray in the buzzing digital content world when Amazon Prime Video green-lit ‘Breathe’, one of the platform’s first few original series commissioned for India. ‘Breathe’ has gone to become one of the most-watched shows on the platform globally and has received widespread critical acclaim. There is an active pipeline of premium digital content under development at Abundantia including the series adaptation of the bestseller ‘The Men Who Killed Gandhi’.

Prior to entering the Entertainment industry, Vikram has spent more than a decade building brands and businesses across leading companies such as The UB Group (spirits, airlines, sports), Tata Communications (retail internet) and SC Johnson – Draft FCB (FMCG).

Vikram is passionate about Tennis, a sport that he competitively played at the National level, and finds time for even now. An avid reader, business and biographies are his favorite genre.
